Today we return speaking about a stranger cosplayer, she is a girl from Greece and her genre mainly concerns the fantasy tales, characters of magic world, manga, and she makes costumes with a lot of details because she is also a crafter and she is also a digital artist.
Her cosplay are immersed in an enchanted atmosphere thanks to the digital editing work and one of her best costumes is certainly that of Liliana Vess.
Liliana Vess is the powerful and perfidious witch by the famous card game Magic: The Gathering which is the first trading card game with millions of passionate all around the world. Magic was sold the first time in 1993 from publisher Wizards of the Coast. The history of universe of the game and its collection of cards is enlarging over time with new expansions.
Liliana Vess is a planeswalker that uses dark mana with obscure and necromancy practices and she has the power to revive the dead. She is a beautiful and clever woman and cand she is eager for power, her appearance is very elegant and is faithfully represented by the cosplayer.
The dress is taken care of in all its details, finishes, seams and accessories and brings the character of the famous game back to life thanks to this excellent interpretation. As previously mentioned, among the costumes of 20Tourniquet02’s Art there are also many other characters from other universes among which we can see the Dark Magician Girl cosplay of the manga Yu-Gi-Oh!, Nezuko Kamado from Demon Slayer, Victoria, League of Angels and League of Angels II and Saber from Fate/stay night.

But now is the time to ask a few questions to 20Tourniquet02’s Art.
20Tourniquet02’s Art congratulations for yours works and thank you for accepting our interview! You have many costumes that caught our attention, but for sure Liliana Vess’s is one of the best. What is your favorite kind of costume and have you also won prizes?
I don’t have a favourite kind of costume, but if I had to choose, it’d be something that I’ve poured my heart and soul into crafting and cosplaying. So far, I’ve been doing that since the first costume I’ve ever crafted, which was Dark Magician Girl from Yu-Gi-Oh! and remains an all-time favourite for me. Later, followed Saber from Fate/Zero (both casual and armor versions), Tifa from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, Kokoro from Dead or Alive 4 and 5, Victoria from League of Angels II, Liliana Vess from Magic: The Gathering (both the Innistrad versions, including the Last Hope, Liliana of the Veil and the Amonkhet/Hour of Devastation versions) and finally, Nezuko from Kimetsu no Yaiba. Except fictional characters, I crafted a few original characters as well, the most noticably till now being a medieval/victorian sorceress, which I used for a promotional video in 2017 for a medieval con. Regarding cosplay achievements, I took part in a Magic: The Gathering pre-release event in July 2017, as Liliana Vess, during the Amonkhet/Hour of Devastation pre-release period, where it was my first contact with magic the gathering and Liliana’s character. I have also participated in cosplay contests, both local and national ones (including LGC Finals) getting 1st place price with Dark Magician Girl twice, in 2014 and 2017, 1st place price with Saber (armored version) in 2016, 1st place price with Victoria in 2017 and 5th place –honorable mention, not an actual price- with Liliana of the Veil in 2018.
Then there are two questions that Martina Pasquale Volonté would like to ask, she is one of our cosplayers who was already a guest here at Do it Nerd in the role of Liliana Vess.
Which is your favorite version of Liliana Vess and is there any special reason why you chose her as a character? When I started cosplaying Liliana your photos were the first ones I found in the search and I said “Ok, I will never do that cosplay” and “I have to go in Greece in order to make it!”
It’s hard to choose a favourite version of Liliana Vess. All her versions are unique and outstanding, but if I had to choose, that’d be the Amonkhet Version, the Last Hope Version and the Liliana of the Veil Version. When I was first introduced to the character of Liliana Vess, it was in the eve of holding a local pre-release event for Magic: The Gathering: Hour of Devastation. Prior to that, I hadn’t come into contact neither with the character nor with the game or universe (aka multiverse in the stories). I remember having to do all the digging regarding source materials, information and stories of the character (yes, I’ve read them all, since I wanted to be in character, not just in costume but in play as well). In the end, I came to like Liliana for what she is, what her backstory is, what she’s been through and how she fights in her own way. I could spot a few similarities between her background story and what I’ve been through till now, hence why I’ve chosen to cosplay her and accepted the challenge of crafting her cosplay costume along with the anointed ones and the Doomed Dissenter. It’s true that she received huge character development in the Dominaria Arc and later in the War of the Spark (where she was even in the promotional video). We had the chance to see the other side of the coin, another Liliana, a more vulnerable one, what she was hiding deep inside her in all the previous arcs, her actual self and the painful experiences she had been through and came to face once again. In the end, I couldn’t help it but craft not only the Amonkhet version that I was asked to do for the local pre-release event, but also the Last Hope and the Liliana of the Veil one, which was quite the challenge by itself. I’ve shed tears, sweat and blood, too much time and money in order to achieve it and finally get it done moments before attending the contest I had registered for in 2018. Now, it’s been 2 years since then, and I still enjoy how the costume came to be. I still have photos to upload of it, but will do due time. Liliana as a fictional character challenged me into learning new crafting and sewing techniques as well as a different way to see through people. I do not regret cosplaying her, even if the world was against me back when I did.
